AirAsia resumes flights to Bhubaneswar

AirAsia today announced the resumption of flights to the culturally-rich Bhubaneswar the capital of Odisha, with thrice-weekly flights commencing 28 May 2024.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of the airline’s continuous streak of enhancing air connectivity between Malaysia and India – having launched 13 routes thus far since 2008.

The Kuala Lumpur – Bhubaneswar flights will also add to AirAsia’s growing network of unique routes to India after Jaipur and Visakhapatnam ‒ making AirAsia the only airline in Malaysia to fly to these cities.

AirAsia’s robust network of destinations has enabled more than five million guests to fly between India, Malaysia and beyond in the last six years alone, and this figure has seen a spike following the government’s announcement of visa-free entry for Indian citizens visiting Malaysia.

“We are immensely pleased to continue our momentum of enhancing accessible connectivity to India, one of our most treasured markets and frequently visited countries.

“AirAsia remains steadfast in our commitment to explore more unique routes between our countries and further grow our footprint so that more of our guests can travel affordably. Bhubaneswar is a city that beckons tourists from near and far, renowned for the rich history and heritage deeply embedded in its culture and architecture, and we’re thrilled to resume this long awaited route.” said Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group Limited.

Often dubbed the ‘Temple City’ of India, Bhubaneswar is home to over 600 majestic sandstone temples scattered throughout the city that date back to the 7th century. The city is not only dotted with revered pilgrimage sites but also ancient architecture and monuments that draw in global tourists looking to soak in Bhubaneswar’s rich culture.

South of the city is the famous Puri’s Jagannath Temple, surrounded by the recently inaugurated 75-metre-long Shree Jagannath Heritage Corridor. Bhubaneswar is also a thriving hub for commerce and business ‒ making it the ideal destination for business and leisure travellers while boasting lush greenery and stunning landscapes.

To celebrate this resumption, flights to Bhubaneswar are on sale from now till 17 March 2024 with a starting fare of only RM199* all-in-one-way, and just INR4,999* from Bhubaneswar to Kuala Lumpur for travel between 28 May 2024 and 18 June 2025.  The promotional fares are available for booking on airasia.com and the AirAsia MOVE app, which was previously known as ‘airasia Superapp’.
