Touché fencers from Malaysia bagged eight medals and secured the overall club trophy at West Java International Fencing Championship 2023.
Almost 500 fencers from Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines participated in the tournament.
The Malaysian Touche fencers showed gutsy performance in all categories.
Making more memorable, when Saif Nordin bagged hat-trick gold medals in the U14, U16, and U21 boy’s foil categories.
Touché Fencing Club founder, President, and Director of coaching Andrew Mok commented, “This tournament is an important step in the development of many of our young talented fencers.
“A lot of attention is given to those who picked up medals but we can’t forget those younger fencers who are coming up through the ranks.
“Tournaments like these will be a learning ground for all our fencers. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to build friendships with other fencers across the region.
“When we travel on trips like this, our fencers get the opportunity to learn the local culture or history, whilst visiting Kawah Putih.”
Expressing his delight to the host nation’s efforts, Andrew Mok said,“It was an excellent tournament with talented competitive fencers from around the region.”
Andrew also commended the goodwill between Touché’s team and the local fencers, hoping the fencers from Indonesia will soon make a trip to Kuala Lumpur as part of friendly tournaments or development trips.
