Vietnam Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and Choi Youngsam – Korean Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam exchanged solutions to strengthen culture, sports, and tourism cooperation.
The meeting took place on March 13.
According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, many Vietnamese people are coming to live, study, and work in Korea and vice versa.
This is a solid foundation to create Vietnamese-Korean multicultural families that are considered a cultural ambassador, helping to strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
Korea has now become one of the leading countries in the world in developing cultural industry.
The Minister hopes that Korea will send experienced experts to help Vietnam develop this field. The Minister also proposed the Korean Government provide scholarships for Vietnamese students related to cultural industry development.
The two sides have for many years organized cultural days/weeks of Vietnam and Korea in each country or seminars on tourism development.
The Minister believes that it is necessary to upgrade these activities to international events.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung expects that the two sides will increase exchanges of famous music groups (for example BlackPink). Music events with the participation of famous artists from both countries create a strong effect, attracting tourists.
Reviewing some specific achievements in various fields, the Ambassador said that in 2023, about 3.6 million Korean visitor arrivals came to Vietnam. It is expected to have more than 4 million in 2024.
Coach Park Hang-seo has made many contributions, creating a turning point for Vietnamese football. Many Korean coaches have been training Vietnamese athletes in shooting, and taekwondo.
The two countries have also signed documents on cooperation in culture, sports and tourism; and organized many cultural days and weeks in each country, artists’ shows.
The Ambassador commented that a series of activities have deepened the culture, sports and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Choi Youngsam expressed agreement with Minister Nguyen Van Hung’s proposals.
Referring to establishing the Vietnamese Cultural Center in Korea and the Vietnamese Village (K-Vietnam valley) in Bonghwa district (Gyeongbuk province), the Ambassador affirmed that Korea promised to provide special support for Vietnam, serving as a strategic basis for long-term exchanges between the two countries.
In the field of tourism, the Ambassador hopes that Vietnam and Korea will soon deploy a tourist support hotline to provide tourism information, as well as receive requests for support when necessary.
The two sides also need to organize culture and tourism promotion events to increase the number of exchange visitors.
