Digital Ministry welcomes Eros Investments Group, Immerso AI-IP to develop AI Movie Studio and Generative AI in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR — Eros Investments Group and Immerso AI-IP are expanding into Malaysia to develop the first AI Movie Studio and Generative AI Infrastructure in Malaysia.

Digital Minister, Gobind Singh Deo shared this after attending a series of meetings with several decision-makers of major Indian companies, including the Chief Executive Officer of Immerso AI-IP, Ali Hussein, during his recent trip to New Delhi.

“During the meeting, I was briefed about Immerso AI-IP’s artificial intelligence (AI) Park and its AI movie studio – the first one to be built in Malaysia. Both ventures will see expected investment of USD1 billion, with the potential creation of 5,000 jobs made available over the next five years.

“I was informed that the Immerso AI Park will encompass an AI university and an AI data centre. It will drive global collaborations to support startups. The AI movie studio and film city hub will enhance talent skills in transmedia and digital productions in Malaysia.

“The ventures will also identify opportunities to incorporate Malaysian content into the companies’ existing and new intellectual properties (IPs).” said Gobind.

In addition, through the MoU between Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Nasscom, local talents will be trained in several key areas in the digital sphere, namely Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), cyber security, software development and Next Gen technologies.

Investments in the nation’s digital content sector alone surged to RM1.6 billion last year from RM550 million in 2022, via the Malaysia Digital initiative by MDEC.

“The trip to New Delhi has opened up new opportunities, and I look forward to this investment, which will contribute to Malaysia’s booming digital economy.”
