Trade Shared Services CSR Initiative Brings Colour and Cheer to Special Needs School in Cheras

In a heartwarming show of community spirit and teamwork, Trade Shared Services (TSS) Malaysia and Singapore (MY & SG) recently held a vibrant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at Sekolah Rendah Pendidikan Khas Jalan Peel (SRPK Jalan Peel) in Cheras.

Themed “Bersama Kita Mampu Membawa Perubahan” (Together We Can Make a Difference), the programme brought together more than 100 volunteers who participated in a large-scale gotong-royong with teachers, parents, and students of the school.

The one-day event focused on revitalising the school environment to make it more inviting and conducive for its students, who are primarily hearing-impaired.

Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to paint walls, classrooms, and fences, and created cheerful murals featuring the Jalur Gemilang and hibiscus flowers — Malaysia’s national symbols.

Additional enhancements included the installation of new blinds for classroom comfort, repainting of waiting chairs for students and visitors, and general beautification work throughout the school grounds. Classrooms were also decorated with colourful and inspiring touches to encourage learning and creativity.

“This is more than just corporate social responsibility. It’s about showing care, creating a better environment, and bringing joy to the children,” said a TSS MY & SG representative.

The principal of SRPK Jalan Peel expressed deep gratitude for the collaboration, describing the initiative as a breath of fresh air for the school.

“We are very grateful for this collaboration. It brings new energy to our school and creates a better learning environment for our students,” the principal said.

The event concluded with a cheerful group photo at Dataran Budi, capturing smiles and the collective pride of everyone involved.

SRPK Jalan Peel is a primary school dedicated to children with hearing impairments, and upholds the values of discipline, knowledge, good practices, and independence.

The CSR initiative by TSS MY & SG reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity, community engagement, and long-term positive change.
